Books I want to reread soon

I've always been kind of a re-reader, imprinting on books so much I'd read the same one multiple times a year (I'm looking at you, The Fault in Our Stars and Perks of Being a Wallflower). But in recent years, this habit died down due to the simple fact that there are way too many books I'm interested in, and reading the same book again feels like I'm losing precious time to find a new favourite.

That said, I've already re-read three books this year. And because I know there are so many more I'd like to revisit, I decided to compile a small yet doable list for this post. There are a lot of books I want to read again, but these are the ones I've been thinking about on a regular basis.

1) Vicious, V. E. Schwab

If you've read my V. E. Schwab post (linked here if you haven't), you know this is my favourite book of hers and one of my favourites of all time. It's been two years since I read it, and I talk about it every day of my life, so I'm definitely due a re-read. This is a story about two college roommates, Victor and Eli, who discover a theory that, after a near-death experience, someone can develop supernatural abilities, and they decide to test this out on themselves. It also follows them 10 years later, after Victor's gotten out of jail and is looking for revenge on Eli. I absolutely love the format of going back and forth in time, the best friends turned rivals, the superpowers, and that nearly every character is a horrible person but you root for them anyway. Truly one of the best books I've ever read, the one I recommend to everyone, and whenever I talk about it I'm one step away from picking it up and reading it again.

2) Ninth House, Leigh Bardugo

I'm blaming this one on my recent love for The Atlas Six and my reread of the Six of Crows duology (the reason why I even thought of this post). I read Ninth House in January last year, and I absolutely loved it. A dark academia story following Alex Stern, a troubled girl with a murky past, who's invited to join Yale and be a part of their ninth secret society. I had originally planned to re-read this when the second book was about to come out. Because that one doesn't have a release date yet, I might have to do it sooner. I just absolutely loved everything about this story, from the characters to the magic, and the mysteries intertwined with everything.

3) The Bone Season series, Samantha Shannon

If you've been following me, you might think this is a weird choice considering I binged the whole series last December-January. However, this became a new case of imprinting on a book, and I finished The Mask Falling earlier this year, knowing I'd re-read it all again very soon. This story is set in Scion, where clairvoyants are real and deemed unnatural by the government. We follow Paige Mahoney, a very rare type of clairvoyant, working in London's criminal underworld. Every book had my heart racing, and these characters are some of my favourites. I just want to be back in this world constantly, and relive some of the scenes I think of on a daily basis. I *might* attempt to wait until book five is finished and about to come out, but I'm not making any promises.

4) The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Taylor Jenkins Reid

This was one of the most surprising reads I've ever read, and one that I recommend to nearly everyone in my life (not everyone loves fantasy, but most of the people I know would adore this). Having a 1950's movie star talking about her life story and her seven husbands seemed pretty alright to me, but I absolutely adored this book. This is one (similarly to Daisy Jones and the Six, by the same author) that I'd want to re-read in audiobook form since the book is in an interview style. Regardless of format though, I kept thinking Evelyn was real and I would love to be enthralled by this story again.

5) Crazy Rich Asians trilogy, Kevin Kwan

This was another book that completely took me by surprise, and I also recommend it to everyone (can you see a theme?). In this, we follow a plethora of different characters, all part of one of the richest families in Singapore. We also follow Rachel Chu, a regular American woman, who's dating the golden boy of the family and had no idea they were rich. It feels like a very posh reality tv show in the form of a book, and I loved every second of it. I do revisit this story constantly because the movie is one of my all-time favourite adaptations, but every time I watch that movie, I want to read the story again.
