February 2020 | Reading Wrap Up

I'm still in the same mindset of wanting to read all the things but not knowing what to pick up next, so February ended up just being a catch up month to finish the few books I'd started back in January and finish my long overdue Harry Potter reread. So here are my thoughts on what I read this month.

1) It's Not O.K. to Feel Blue and Other Lies, Scarlett Curtis

I'd been slowly making my way through this for the past month and I really really enjoyed it. It's an incredibly diverse collection of essays about all sorts of mental illnesses and I believe every one could benefit from it, whether you personally struggle with your mental health or have anyone close to you who does. I will say, it is entirely UK based, besides a few refugees, so keep that in ming. Overall, a great book and I really want to read Scarlett's other book now. 4/5 ⭐️

2) Little Women, Louisa May Alcott

My journey to start this book was long and way more complicated than it needed to be, but alas, I decided to go with the audiobook. After hearing sample after sample I chose which narrator I liked best and, although the volume of the recording was quite inconsistent, I loved it. My main reason to finally read this was to be able to watch the new Greta Gerwig adaptation and I'm so glad I did that. I adored this story and these characters (for the most part *hem* Amy *hem*) and I feel like it will stay for me for a long time. The only reason why I knocked a star off was because I completely disagreed with the ending and will never get over that. 4/5 ⭐️ (And if you're wondering, the new film is BRILLIANT. Gerwig's incredible and I loved it way too much – it also made me cry).

3) Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, J. K. Rowling

4) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, J. K. Rowling

(Both were ebooks)

I feel like there's no point in talking about these separately, so I'll just wrap them up together. I finally finished my reread and I adored it more than I thought I would. These two were the ones I remembered the least but I was quite surprised to see how similar the seventh is to the film. Although I will say, nothing will be quite like these. I adored the sixth one as well and found that there were some scenes I remembered so vividly from my first read, even though it'd been 7 years. I loved loved loved my reread, loved the marathon I had afterwards (I still need to watch the last two films though) and can't wait for the rest of the illustrated editions to come out so I can reread them all again. Obviously 5/5 ⭐️ for both.
